This is something that frequently annoys me, too. Yes, Baroness are from Georgia, they have more than one vocalist, and Baroness admit to being influenced by Mastodon. That doesn’t mean that they are ripping off Mastodon, though.

Many of the Georgia bands (Mastodon, Baroness, Kylesa, Black Tusk, and Zoroaster to name a few) borrow elements from one another to create a sort of regional sound. All scenes do that. All the bay area thrash bands borrowed from each other - Metallica and Megadeth, namely - and it wasn’t that big of a deal.
